На уровне B1 важно читать стратегически. Не нужно переводить каждое слово. Сначала реши, что тебе нужно: общий смысл или конкретная деталь.
Алгоритм B1 reading
- Прочитай задание и подчеркни keywords.
- Реши: нужен общий смысл или деталь.
- Прочитай заголовок, первые и последние предложения.
- Найди место в тексте, где может быть ответ.
- Проверь, нет ли distractor: похожего, но неправильного ответа.

Before you read, classify the question. If it asks for the best title, use skimming first. If it asks for a number, date, place or name, scan. If it asks for why, what does it mean, or what can we understand, read the sentence around the answer carefully.
Weak spot fixed: distractors
A distractor often contains the same word as the text but gives the wrong meaning. Always check the sentence around the keyword.

Example 1: skimming
Question: Choose the best title for the text.
Strategy: Read the title, first sentence and last sentence. Do not stop at unknown words.
Answer logic: The best title must cover the whole text, not one small detail.
Example 2: scanning
Question: What time does the train leave?
Strategy: Look for times: 8:15, 9:30, 10 o’clock. Then read the sentence around the time.
Mini-dialogue
A: I can’t understand every word.
B: You don’t need every word. What is the question asking?
A: It asks for the ticket price.
B: Then scan for numbers and currency symbols.
Example: strategy choice
Question: What is the writer mainly trying to do?
Strategy: Skim the whole text. Do not choose an answer from one small detail.
Question: What time does the shop close on Sunday?
Strategy: Scan for days and times, then read the sentence around Sunday.
